Terms of Service.
The rules of the road for using Voice Trail.
Your responsibility: consent
You must obtain consent from every person in a meeting before recording them. Many US states and countries require all-party consent to record a conversation. Voice Trail is a tool for authorized recording, not covert recording.
Two-party consent states in the US include California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington. Laws change. Verify for your jurisdiction before you record.
What you can do with Voice Trail
- Record meetings where you have obtained consent from all parties.
- Use the AI-generated summaries, quotes, and drafts in your professional work.

What you cannot do
- Record any person without their consent where required by law.
- Use Voice Trail for harassment, stalking, or to build profiles of people who haven't agreed to be recorded.

Your data
You own your data. We hold it on your behalf to provide the service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Pricing
Voice Trail is currently free during private beta. When we launch paid tiers, we'll give every beta user 30 days notice before any charge. Pricing is planned at $15 per month for the Pro tier with a fair-use cap at 20 hours of recording per month.
Service availability
Voice Trail is a small team's effort. We aim for high availability but we cannot guarantee zero downtime. We recommend not relying on Voice Trail as the sole record of legally critical conversations. If a meeting is mission-critical, keep a backup via a dedicated recorder.
Limitation of liability
Voice Trail is provided "as is" without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to fees you have paid us in the past 12 months (currently $0 during beta). We are not liable for consequential damages arising from loss of data, missed meetings, or service interruptions.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms. We'll email you first if we do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
Changes to these terms
Material changes get emailed. Minor corrections get shipped quietly.
